Zabuza has been called the Demon of the Hidden Mist; this is because during his childhood, he killed over 100 of the ninja academy graduates attending their final exam. In the exam, each student would be pitted against the other in a battle to the death. The massacre ended this tradition immediately.

His fame grew over the years, as he became both an ANBU and a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. He eventually attempted to kill the Mizukage in a failed coup d’état, and subsequently fled. Just before leaving the Village, he discovered Haku, a child with a special kekkei genkai that allowed him to combine the wind and water elements to bring forth ice. He began training Haku to be the ultimate weapon.

Naruto has a dangerous encounter with Haku in the forest. Naruto and Sasuke better complete their training, as Zabuza is alive and has returned for rthe next appearance. Will Kakashi, Sasuke, and Sakura be able to defeat the Demon of the Mist? And, can Naruto arrive in time to help out?

A girl is gathering herbs in the forest and then recognizes Naruto lying asleep in the forest as the kid that screamed at her for killing Zabuza in the forest reaches over to grab his neck. She reframes and gently wakes him. They talk for awhile, and she learns that Naruto is indeed a ninja. He trains because he must become stronger to become the best ninja in his village.

The story begins as the moon shines bright in the night sky. As a tail sweeps across the screen the camera zooms out to show a giant fox demon with nine tails destroying the land.

3rd Hokage: “Twelve years ago, a nine-tailed fox suddenly appeared. It’s tails lashed out, smashing mountains, and sending tidal waves crashing to the shores.”
The beast snarls then jumps, crushing more trees.
3rd Hokage: “The ninja rose up to depend their villages.”
Many leaf shinobi can be seen now, some injured, while others are ready for battle.
Leaf Shinobi 1: “Hold the attack and wait for the 4th Hokage!”
Leaf Shinobi 2: “It’s getting closer! Don’t let it near the village!”

The Hokage is the leader of Konohagakure. Over the course of the series, there have been five Hokage, who are honored by the village by having sculptures of their faces carved into the rock formation overlooking Konohagakure. The First Hokage was Hashirama Senju ,who founded the village along with Madara Uchiha. With his unique Mokuton abilities, he created the trees that act as the foundation for Konohagakure, and his method of rule became a model for all subsequent Hokage.

The First was succeeded by his younger brother, Tobirama Senju , who became the Second Hokage. He in turn was followed by one of his students, who became the Third Hokage. After a long rule, the Third abdicated in favor of Minato Namikaze, who took the position of Fourth Hokage, but reclaimed his position after the Fourth gave his life to save the village from the nine-tailed demon fox. The Third is the Hokage at the beginning of the series, but he is slain in battle by his former student, Orochimaru, during an invasion of Konohagakure by Sunagakure and Otogakure. Another of his students, Tsunade, succeeds him as the Fifth Hokage
